Distrifeeds

Distrifeeds - distributed feeds - is a unversal method to implement truly distributed/p2p systems of information exchange and processing.

Whatever information you produce, you publish as a feed. It can then be retrieved by anyone directly or through a proxy, named aggregator.

Things you produce now that can be published as feeds (instead of whatever methods you currently use):

  • blogs
  • open e-mails
    • mailing list posts
    • general announcements
    • replies to others' e-mails
  • any wiki-like info
    • updates published as feeds, too

Principles

  • as flexible as possible
  • as structured as needed

Technical types of feeds

Probably any popular format would do (RSS/Atom), with some optional embedded meta-data and encouraged recursive model (publish links to stuff and other feeds).

Examples
